Gavin v Eggington it's on
Frankie Gavin and Sam Eggington are finally getting it on on the 22nd October as stated on the Birmingham boxing columnar the start of August. The show will be live on Sky Sports and will be held at the Barclay card arena (old NIA) Birmingham. The battle of Brum will see the two
Welterweights match there skills in the most anticipated fight for Birmingham boxing in years.
Also on the undercard there will be Lennox Leon, Ryan Kelly and also Marcus Ffrench has got the call to appear. I contacted Marcus and asked him how he felt about being on this big Birmingham show? He told me “I'm feeling good and I'll no doubt be ready to get the win”.
This show is set to be a cracker and the Birmingham boxing column will be giving a full report on this epic Birmingham show.
I contacted Paul Counihan from Eastside and asked him what he thought of the news, he told me "the news on Sam v Frankie is great news especially for Brum fans, Sam is very up for this fight and I believe so is Frankie. Hopefully it turns out to be a cracker! The under-card looks great as well so I hope all Birmingham gets behind big time boxing, back in Brum. Because our football teams are not in the big league like Liverpool & Manchester it's hard to attract fans to Birmingham events, but if anybody wants a good night out with great boxing matches then buy a ticket".
I also contacted Jon Pegg from Eastside and asked him what he thought of the news. Jon informed me "on the Eggington fight we are absolutely over the moon Frankie has finally signed and this is a fight that I think for the first time I've seen Sam properly motivated for all his other fights he just looks at as boxing and the sport he does. For this one I've seen a hunger and nastiness iv not seen before and its pretty frightening and been very very painful for his sparring partners so far, Myself Paul Counihan, Spencer Mccracken, Louie Counihan and Max Maxwell are over the moon with the way he went straight from his last camp into training like a beast. On a side note we have had three meeting down at Matchroom headquarters with Eddie and Barry and each one has been more productive than the last and the plan they have put before is very exciting and has motivated the Savage even more to achieve his goals wtach this space Eddie Hearn has got some huge fights in the pipeline for Sam
Dexter’s Thoughts
Jon Pegg dropped the date back on the column in August but now it had been confirmed we can all look forward to a great night of boxing. This is a full on 50/50 fight but I did state in the report in August that I thought Gavin might nick it and I'm not one for changing my mind. What ever the result I think this is going to be one of the fights of the year, I just hope it lives up to its hype.
