Pro Boxer Kal Yafai
Kal Yafai is a 27 year old orthodox boxer from Moseley, Birmingham. The 5 foot 4 Super-flyweight had a great amateur record winning 153 fights out of 175 bouts.
Kal is having a great pro career, being undefeated win 19 wins 13 coming by the way of knockout. Kal is the former undefeated Commonwealth and is the current British, IBF and WBA intercontinental champion.
Kal informed me he boxes out of Birmingham city gym and is trained by Max Mccracken.
because of his overall I ask Kal, Who is your favorite boxer and why? He told me "Sugar Ray Robinson ability, speed & punch power". Kal's favorite fight he has seen is Castillo vs Corales.
Kal started boxing 18 years ago and was inspired to box by watching Prince Naseem Hamed, Kal told me “he was my hero growing up”.
Kal informed me his hardest fight was an amateur fight where he boxed the reigning Olympic champion from Cuba Robeisy Ramirez.
Dexter’s Thoughts
Kal is smashing it in his division at domestic level and world, he is unbeaten and seems confident of ruling his division. If his brother Galal has as mush success as him when he turns pro he win have a great career. The Birmingham Boxing Column looks forward to writing about them in the future.
