DnA New Pro Boxer Ishmael Ellis

DnA Boxer turning pro

Ishmael Ellis

Ishmael is a 25 year old light welter/welterweight unlicensed boxer from Birmingham. The 5 foot 8 orthodox boxer has had 29 Unlicensed fights winning 25 of them.

Ishmael had 6 amateur fights and won all 6, he got to the finals of the Midlands area finales but was kicked out because of his unlicensed fights even though it was over a year before.

He boxes out of DnA In Sterchley and is trained by Anthony Hull and has been from day one.

His favorite boxer is sugar Ray Robinson, Ishmael told me “he had so many fights at many

different weights he was a true gentleman and a great boxer , an all rounder, best in my eyes, wicked style and perfect punch”.

Ishmael informed me the best fight he has seen live was Berth vs Ortiz, he said “it was a straight up war”, he then continued “the best fight I have seen not live was Marquez vs Pacquiao 1".

Ishmael has been boxing for 7 years, when I asked him what inspired him to take up boxing he informed me “I took boxing up to keep fit and in shape never to fight but ended up having a fight and just took to it. I never took it serious but for the last two years this year especially I have really knuckled down”,

Ishmael ended by telling me about his hardest fight, he ended by saying “ my hardest fight l can't remember the name of guy it was an unlicensed fight and I gave away like 2 and half stone. We had 3 hard rounds, it was a draw at the end, he then asked for a forth, I said yes and lost on points. He was a real hard hitter and never took step back and had Knocked out everyone he fought before me”.

Ishmael is making his professional debut Saturday 24th September at Tudor Grange Leisure centre Solihull.

Dexter’s Thoughts

Ishmael is the first boxer to have a write up from DnA and now he has broken the ice we hope for more of the DnA boxers use the site to promote themselves and tell there story. Ishmael has a good record in his unlicensed career, but felt sorry when he told me about getting kicked out of the Midlands area final for having unlicensed fights in his past. I don't really see the problem in doing both, but I suppose the amateur boxing board can't make any money out of the unlicensed shows.

Ishmael is now turning Pro yet another unlicensed boxer that has made it to the professional ranks.

I hope Ishmael keeps up his Impressive record when he turns pro and informs all the DnA lads to get in touch.
