Sandwell born Ricky Summers took on British light heavyweight Champion Frank Buglioni for his Lonsdale Belt. Summers who was unbeaten in 13 professional fights took the former European Super Middleweight champ and world title contender the championship distance in an exciting and competitive fight. Buglioni retained his title with a unanimous points victory, Summers said after the match that he had learned a lot in the billed up and the fight it's self and would like to do it again.
Dexter's Thoughts
Ricky Summers took some great shots in this fight and took everything the British Champ threw at him and came back with flurries of his own. He may have lost the fight and his undefeated record, but he showed the heart and desire a champ needs to succeed. Summers will learn form this fight and there is no disgrace losing to a world class fighter like Buglioni especially when you go 12 rounds for the first time. I think Summers will learn from this fight, come back stronger and more prepared and I'm sure he will achieve a British or European title In the next few years.
