Walsall’s Boxing talent James Beech jr took on one of Queensberry promotion's Hottest prospects in ten-round contests for the vacant WBC International Silver Featherweight title. Beech jr (25) was very confident of defeating the unbeaten prospect especially as McCann was moving up in weight for this contest. Beech jr and McCann both weighed 8 stone 11 with Victor Loughlin refereeing the fight.
Beech Jr came out fast but McCann was matched him and got the more eye-catching shots off. Beech jr was put down in the first but got up and continued and managed to weather a barrage of shots as McCann poured on the pressure. McCann’s speed and movement were the telling factors In the next few rounds as Beech pressed to try and get a foothold in the contest. McCann was in full control of the fight but did sustain a slight cut over his right eye. The end came in the eighth round as Beech jr was put down hard with a cracking right hand, Beech jr showed his bravery as he rose to his feet with blood appearing to be coming from his ear and continued. McCann went in for the finish with a barrage of shots with Beech Jr’s corner throwing in the towel just before the ref stopped the fight.
Beech Jr went on social media and wrote this, ‘Hard one to take last night after all the sacrifices and what I’ve put my body through the last 7 weeks, was always going to be a tough fight but you can’t turn these opportunities down, cut my ear start of the 8th round and my senses was scrambled from there on, big well done to @dennismccann top fella outside the ring. Got to say thank you to Peter Hickenbottom for being by my side through it all to and for potentially saving myself from any serious damage in there last night as if it was up to me I would of carried on all night. Thank you to Mr @bcb_boxing Errol Johnson for another huge opportunity. Got to say a big thank you an sorry to the wife Italia Smith as I know it’s hard living with me when I’m in training all the cooking and not being allowed any chocolate or anything sweet in the house’.
‘Seeing all the support with all the pubs full in Walsall and on everybody’s tv screen backing me last night makes me so proud.
Massive thank you to everyone who came up to support me last night and made some noise hope everyone had a good night and sorry about the result. Wouldn’t of been able to prepare and be in the top physical condition I was in yesterday if it wasn’t for my sponsors’ . @centralcontractorsltd James Evans Financial services @taundrydoors @beauties.bronze @mba_dogbreeders_ltd @plumlogogroup @sportsdirectuk @everlast

Dexter’s Thought’s
Gutted for James Beech Jr as he has been on the cusp of big title for the last few years. He went into this contest very confident but after watching McCann’s performance again Beech jr you can not argue that he is not all hype. It was always a tough ask for Beech jr as he was up against one of Queensberry's promotion's top prospects but Beech jr is one of them boxers who will learn from this defeat. I have always championed James Beech jr and have followed his career from his first fight at Tudor Grange leisure centre in February 2017, and I still think he has the goods to win big titles. Beech jr is only 25 years old and I have every faith that him and his team will come back stronger and get him one of the bigger titles.
