Butlin Take His Record To Three Without Defeat

Tamworth’s David Butlin took his professional record to three without defeat at the H-Suite Edgbaston (3.12.23). The twenty-nine-year-old light heavyweight was fighting on the Tommy Owens Promotions show ‘December To Remember' and was taking on Latvian Edgars Sniedze who was have his 50th contest. The Cruiserweight contest was scheduled over four three-minute rounds with Butlin weighing in thirteen stone one and Sniedze coming in twelve stone twelve with Chris Dean reffing.

Butlin took the centre of the ring and used his jab pressing Sniedze with nice combinations, Sneidze had some joy himself but Butlin won the round. The second was a good competitive round with both fighters landing good shots, Butlin used his double jab well backing up his opponent, and finished the round strong. The third was another good round with Sniedze making Butlin work hard, Butlin boxed well landing good shots to win a close round. Butlin pressed in the final round with Sniedze giving him a very competitive contest landing some big shots with Sniedze just edging it.

Ref Chris Dean scored the contest 39 to 37 Butlin, I had it the same.

Dexter’s Thoughts

This was a very competitive contest which will help Butlin in his professional journey. A lot of fighters don’t get a good test until their seventh or eighth contest with Butlin dealing with this test well. Sniedze had some joy and you could see he was trying to win this fight as it was his 50th contest but Butlin dealt with everything he had. Butlin is improving with every fight and has a big following; the light Heavyweight division is very hot domestically and at the world level at the moment and as Butlin improves, he has the potential to be a force. I look forward to seeing Butlin fight again.
