The Baggie Boy James Griffiths took his professional record to eight without defeat at the Hangar Event Venue Wolverhampton. The twenty-nine-year-old from Wombourne, Staffordshire was taking on Romanian Octavian Gratil (33) in a super Middleweight contest over six three-minute rounds on the BcB Promotions ‘March Madness’. Griffiths weighed in elven stone eight with Gratii coming in eleven stone five with Ryan Churchill refereeing.

Good start from Griffiths working well behind his jab keeping Gratii on the back foot and landing some cracking combinations. Gratii landed some good shots in the second making Griffiths step up the pace and land nice combinations of his own, Griffiths won the round on work-rate. Griffiths worked well on the inside bringing up some cracking uppercuts in the third as he had Gratii on the run, Griffiths worked the body well with Gratii covering up to see the round out, Griffiths was warned for hitting low.

Griffiths was landed some cracking combinations in the fourth but Gratii was taking them a d firing back to keep the fight competitive. Gratii was just looking for a big left hook in the fifth as Griffiths continued his good work winning the round with ease. Griffiths looked to finished the contest strong and moved in landing some great combinations, Gratii was still looking for a big left looking for the stoppage and had Griffiths on the floor but was warned by the ref as he threw Griffiths to the floor. Griffiths won the round and the fight.

Ref Ryan Churchill scored it 60 to 54 I had it the same.
Dexter’s Thoughts

Great performance by Griffiths as he takes his record to eight without defeat with some great movement and shot picking. It was a very controlled contest but Gratii did have a go which kept it competitive but Griffiths was always in control. Griffiths is now eight without defeat and has to be looking at an area title fight at Middleweight. I can see Griffiths contesting for this in the next few fights or maybe just go straight for the English if possible. Griffiths has the potential to get to British level in the next few year and then maybe go on to bigger titles. I look forward to seeing Griffiths in the ring soon.
