King of the Ring ToP (24.9.22


Tommy Owens Promotions held their September show at Plant Ice Solihull (24.9.22). The show consisted of 9 fights with 3 six rounders and 6 four rounders. The show was called ‘King of the Ring’ with some of the best talent and prospect from the Midlands on show. Reffing on the night you had Chris Dean and Pete McCormick.

We start with the talented DnA fighter Tyler Christopher who moved to 5 without defeat after stopping debutant Harley Marginson in the second round of this 4 round welterweight contest.


In the super Featherweight division you had Jessica Barry making her debut against Cristina Busuioc, Barry stopped Busuioc in the second round of he 4 two minute round fight.


Jagdeep Purewal took his winning streak to four without defeat beating Luke Middleton on point 39 to 37.


Dylan Norman went to 3 unbeaten in the super Lightweight division beating Liam Richards on points 40 to 36.


Danny Costello made his debut tonight beating Peter Aleksandrov on points in the super Welterweight division winning every round 40 to 36 in this 4 round contest.

Ashlee Eales went to 6 without defeat beating Serge Ambomo in the super Welterweight division winning 40 to 36 in this four round contest.

Scott Melvin took on Jordan Ellison in a 6 round super lightweight contest with Melvin winning on points 59 to 55.


Nyall Berry had his first 6 rounder sensationally stopping Sufyaan Ahmed in the first round of this lightweight contest, Berry is now unbeaten in four fights.


The main event saw River Wilson-Bent returning to the ring after his points defeat to Tyler Denny for the Middleweight English title in June of this year. Wilson-Bent took on Ben Thomas in this six round Middleweight contest stopping him in the fifth round and getting back to winning ways.


Match maker and Manager Jon Pegg put this status up on social media about this event, he wrote

Damn what a night we put on for Eastside gym and all the gyms we work with.

Our second night at Planet ice Solihull and this one is as even better than the first as we had the king in the house too Elvis tribute Michael Clews to sing the lads to the ring.

A full house of great fans only added to the atmosphere.

Anthony Hull Dna gym had two winners when’s jags purewell gave his best performance to our point the bigger Luke Middleton over 4

Mikey Tyler got his first stoppage after the corner of the game harly marginson threw on the towel in the second.

Lee Spare box clever gum also had two winners as Ashley Ashlee Eales boxed very smarty to put point the dangerous serge ambomo

And Danny Costello gave his army of fans a great first night with a comprehensive pts win on his debut.

Wayne Elcock kronk birmingham gym had another good winner in knowle lad Dillon Norman picking up a points win over the experienced Liam Richards.

Derek Fitzpatrick brought along

Jessica Barry to make her debut and she really made an impression boxing a Romanian girl who had taken former world champ Shannon Courtney the distance Barry was in the mood to impress.

Impress she did dropping her game for twice with vicious body shots to record a fantastic debut.

Brendon Brendan Norman bulkington gym had fan favourite River Wilson-Bent on the top of the bill and river was back to his best boxing Big Ben Thomas river controlled the distance and showed patience to break down the bigger man recording a 5th round stoppage that sent his loyal fans home very happy and set him up for w big fight very soon.

Eastside gym with myself Paul Paul Soggy Counihan Louie Counihan and Marcus Daniel in the corner of our three lads on the bill.

Brett Egan shown massive professionalism when a medical emergency forced his opp out instead of moaning or panicking Brett just got on with the job and his exhibition with future British champ Kaisee KB was better than most fights. Brett will be back nov 12 and will be showing the punching power to match his silky skills

Scott Terrier Melvin took on a real test before a mooted midlands title fight going against former northern champ Jordan Ellison who has ruined the records of a number of prospects.

Scott boxed well against a tough tricky veteran to pick up the 6 rounds pts win ready for his title shot.

People have been saying Nyall Berry is one of the best kept secrets in British boxing but not anymore after being streamed live on Mervyn Turner ayozet tv I his first big test.

Nyal was facing former central are title challenger Sufyan ahmed who came with a winning record a size advantage and plenty of ambition of his own. Plenty of good judges said this might be slightly too early for berry.

Nyal made light of this with a single stunning right hand that finished the fight 23 seconds in and that included the 10 second count. Title honours can’t be far from this lads future.

Another fantastic night from TOP Tommy Owens Promotions LTD and great security from Tyson J Leon making sure everything was safe and sound for the fans
