Tommy Owens Promotions has announced their lineup for their massive show at the Planet Ice Solihull on the 9th of September 2023. The main event has been announced as a Lightweight Midlands Lightweight Area title with the talented Birmingham Fighter Scott Melvin who will be taking on unbeaten Mykey Lee Broughton, also from Birmingham. The lightweight experience doesn’t stop there as Tommy Owens Promotions holds another TOP Boxer Tournament with the Lightweights taking centre stage. Also, on the undercard you have the unbeaten Second City Gyms Hot Prospect Niall Farrell, who will have his third four-round contest. Finishing off the undercard you have not a lightweight but a Light-Heavyweight in the unbeaten David Butlin who will be also be having his third fight.

The Midlands Area Title has Two Birmingham fighters contesting each other in a ten-three-minute round contest for this vacant title. Melvin 23 from Chelmsley Wood has had eight contests and has won seven of them, his only defeat came in the Boxxer Tournament losing to Dylan Cheema who won the tournament. Melvin’s opponent is Twenty-two-year-old Mykey Lee Broughton who is also from Birmingham. Lee Broughton who is managed by Anthony Manning has won all seven of his contests so far with his last two fights being over six three-minute rounds. This is set to be a very exciting 50-50 main event.

The TOP Boxer Tournament is set to be a cracker and if it lives up the first Tournament there is no doubt it will. In the tournament, we have eight fighters from all over the Midlands contesting for the yet-to-be-announced prize money and the converted honour of winning the tournament. The eight fighters on the show are Seb Simmonds, Delmar Thomas, Lewis Fielding, Danny Williams, Darnell Duut, Dillion Norman, Ryan Griffiths and DJ Tollerton.

Thirty-two-year-old Seb Simmonds from Leicester has only had one contest so far getting a draw, he has stated that he will be looking for three quick wins. Delmar Thomas from Nottingham is a twenty-seven-year-old Southpaw who will be one of the more experienced fighters in the tournament. He has fought eight times so far and has come out victorious five times. He is a confident slick boxer who can punch. Dillon Norman has stated that this cooperation is made for me, the unbeaten twenty-three-year-old from Knowle has had four contests and won them all. Norman who is trained by Wayne Elcock will be one of the favourites in the tournament. Tamworth’s Lewis Fielding is the most experienced fighter in the tournament with eighteen fights and ten wins. The thirty-three-year-old has fought three times for different versions of the Midlands area title and has been there and got the t-shirt. Thirty-four-year-old Danny Williams has won both of his fights so far in his career, the Hereford fighter said he is here to win not just to take part. Black Country Boxing Promotions fighter Darnell Duut has had one professional fight which ended in a draw, the fighter who resides in Walsall views to impress on the night. Twenty-two-year-old Ryan Griffiths is unbeaten winning his first two fights, the Dudley fighter is strong and tough and loves a war. Twenty-two-year-old DJ Tollerton from Lincoln is unbeaten in three contests, the markdown as the ‘Body Snatcher’ aims to make this night his own.

The two fights on the undercard have unbeaten fighters in the home corner, neither fighter's opponents have yet to be named. Twenty-Five-year-old Niall Farrell will be having the third fight of his professional career, the second-city gym fighter had an amazing amateur career and is set to make waves in the pros. Coventry’s David Butlin will be having his third pro fight after winning his first two, Butlin is improving with every fight he gas and will be looking to continue with a victory at the Planet Ice Solihull.

Dexter’s Thoughts

This is set to be an exciting night of boxing with some of the best talent around in the lightweight division. The tournament if it is anything like the last one will be fantastic but I am really looking forward to the Midlands area Lightweight title fight if I’m being honest. I have followed Scott Melvin’s career from when he was an amateur and know how good he is. But I have been informed by a lot of people in the know that Lee Broughton is the real deal which will make this an exciting battle and a true 50 – 50. With the hot prospect Niall Farrell and David Butlin showcasing their talents I can’t for this show to happen

The Birmingham Boxing Column will be there to report on this show.
