Birmingham’s Scott Melvin will be defending his Midlands Lightweight Area title against Worcester’s Ameen Khalid at the Skydome Coventry (09.03.24).
The twenty-three-year-old from Chelmsley Wood has had nine professional fights with eight wins and his only defeat coming in a Boxxer Tournament in a spilt decision. ‘The Terrier’ has also scored two stoppages in his eight wins with a first-round stoppage in his first fight and in his last one against Lee Broughton.
Twenty-seven-year-old Khalid has an unbeaten record of eight contests with seven wins and one draw. Khalid has fought over four rounds five times and over six three times with one stoppage against Dean Jones. Khalid drew with Tatenda Mangombe in his last contest in December of last year in a cracking four-rounder.
This contest is topping the bill on a great-looking show with the likes of River Wilson-Bent, Danny Quartermaine, Brad Goldsmith, and Dylan Cheema to name just a few on the undercard.
Dexter’s Thoughts
This is a great matchup, both fighters have great records and are both very talented boxers. I did think that Melvin would have rematched Lee Broughton but this contest is a tasty one which is a true fifty-fifty. This looks like a great show with a great undercard and the Column looks forward to reporting on it.
