Former Super Lightweight Midlands Champ Connor Parker won every round in his four-round contest on the BcB show ‘Unleashed’ at the Bescot Stadium Walsall. The twenty-nine-year-old from Burton on Trent notched up his third victory since suffering his first defeat for the WBO European Super-Lightweight being stopped in the seventh round by Sam Maxwell. Parker was taking on Octavian Gratil (33) in a four-round contest in a Middleweight contest. Parker who has won fourteen of his fifteen contest weighed in eleven stone one with Gratil coming in eleven stone two with peter McCormick reffing.
Steady start by Parker who worked well behind a nice jab, Gratil landed the odd shot as the round went on Parker landed some nice combinations to win the round. Gratil came out aggressive in the second pressing forward, Parker soon had him on the back foot with a nice stiff jab and some heavy combinations, Gratil continued to press landing some good shots but Parker won the round with ease.
Gratil continued to press in the third making the fight completive, but Parker was landing nice combinations and had found his rhyme controlling the pace of the round and winning it. Parker picked his shots well in the final round as he used his jab to control the round and landed some nice combinations for a clean sweep victory.
Ref Pete McCormick scored it 40 to 36 Parker, I had it the same.
Dexter’s Thoughts
Good tick over fight for Parker who showed he is still hungry to get back into title contention in his first fight in over two years. Parker looked sharp and show great skills against Gratil who did have a go in the four-round contest. This was only Parker’s third contest since losing the WBO European super-lightweight challenge against Sam Maxwell back in November of 2019. Parker still looked sharp but at twenty-nine n my option if he does want to get back into title contention, he needs to be out a few times next year. Parkers record is now fifteen with one defeat so if he scores a few more wins he will be back in the title hunt and may get a shot just on his record. This was a good positive performance by Parker and if he had the drive I can see him contest for titles next year.
