Staffordshire Ashley Pettigrew was in Knock out form in his contest at the Stadium Suite Bescot Stadium (16.11.24). The twenty-six-year-old who was coming off a stoppage defeat scored a cracking stoppage victory against a very game opponent in Shane Smith. The contest was on the BcB show called ‘Unleashed' and was part of an undercard of five contests. The contest was scheduled over four three-minute rounds in the Super Middleweight division with Perrigrew weighing in eleven stone sin and Smith coming in eleven stone eight with Kevin Parker reffing.
Smith was very game from the first bell coming forward and landing some nice shots, Pettigrew controlled the round with his nice long jab landing some good backhands. Pettigrew used his jab well holding the centre of the ring against Smith who was having a go back which kept it competitive. Smith’s competiveness became his undoing as Pettigrew pushed Smith back to the ropes shooting out a hard jab before landing a cracking right hook with Smith crumbling to the floor. ‘A’ Star ref Kevin Parker started to count with Smiths corner throwing the towel in as the ref waved the contest off two minutes forty-eight seconds of the second round.

Dexter’s Thoughts
Great performance by Pettigrew who was up against a very game fighter in Smith. Pettigrew who was coming of a stoppage defeat showed great control and ring craft as he set up Smith for a great stoppage. The stoppage was a cracker setting up Smith for a cracking right hook. This win bring his record to four wins out of five contests and it looked like he has learned from his defeat. I look forward to see Pettigrew in the ring again very soon.
