The ‘Big Ego’ Samuel Pikire got back to winning ways in a four-round contest at the H-Suite Edgbaston (21.10.23). Pikire who lost his last fight in a fourth-round TKO took on Bradford’s Jake Pollard who was entering the ring for the 55th time in a featherweight contest. The show which was called ‘Give No Quarter’ and was promoted by Tommy Owens Promotions had been reduced to just three four-rounders due to pullouts and injuries. DnA gyms Pikire weighed in nine stone six with Pollard coming in eight stone four with Ryan Churchill reffing.
Pikire controlled the first round using a nice jab and working the body well with some great movement and shot-picking. Pikire continued to pick his shots well in the second with great movement landing combinations to Pollards head and body winning the round with ease. The third was another round controlled by Pikire who moved well and used some nice fast combinations to win the round. Pikire continued his hood work in the field round picking his shots and just out-classing his opponent who did have a go-back in the final round, Pollard did end up on the floor by Pikire throwing him down.
Judge Chris Dean scored it 40 to 36 Pikire, I had it the same.
Dexter’s Thoughts
Great to see Pikire back to winning ways and put on a good display on a card that had been shortened to just three contests. Pikire had some good support there who cheered him on to a classy win and he seemed switched on throughout the contest which I think when he is he is very hard to beat. Pikire put on a great performance and I’m sure now he will build on this and with a few more wins he will be contesting for the Midlands title in the next year or so.
