Savage Back with a Bang

Eastside gyms ‘Savage’ Sam Eggington notched up a 4th round TKO win against Liverpool born James McCarthy at the Premie suite Cannock in a 8 round contest 30/3/23. Eggington (29) was coming off losing his IBO world super welterweight title to Dennis Hogan in Australia in October of 2022.

McCarthy (31) with a record of two wins and one draw out of nine contests was the sacrificial lamb to the slaughter as Eggington was in no mood to mess around. Eggington was on the front foot from the start as he worked the body and head. The savage dropped McCarthy with a body shot in the third round with the bell saving him. Eggington dropped McCarthy with another body shot in the fourth round. Eggington then lived up to his name ‘The Savage' poleaxing McCarthy with a vicious left hook just after he had gotten up knocking him out cold.

Dexter’s Thoughts

It’s great that Eggington is back and fighting in Brum and has knocked off any ring rust he may of had over the last five months. Unfortunately I wasn’t there and my discrimination on the fight is from several people who attended. This fight was always going to end in an Eggington win but from what I was told he was looking like the old savage we know and love to watch. I’m sure Eggington will be looking to return to having big title fights  and with his Eastside team behind him I’m sure he will.
