Debutant female boxer Sian O’Toole shined last night at the Eastside Rooms Birmingham putting on a clinical performance in her first professional contest (2,9,23). Sian had a Stella amateur career winning several National titles and showcasing all her talents in front of a massive following against a very game opponent in Amy Greatorex (37) from Derby. The contest was scheduled for six two-minute rounds and was on the undercard of the Black Country Boxing Promotions show ‘Maximum Impact 3’. The contest was in the Super Featherweight division with O’Toole weighing in at nine stone three and Greatorex coming in nine stone five with Chris Dean reffing.
A fast start by the debutant who went head and body like a seasoned Pro, Greatorex fought back and asked questions but O’Toole dominated. Wave after wave of combinations from O’Toole in the second who showcased her boxing dominating the round. Greatorex tried to turn the contest into a tare-up with O’Toole happy to oblige standing you to toe with her winning the battle as she landed big combinations making her rethink her plans.
O’Toole continued her good work in the fourth banging in nice combinations to the head and body, the pace had slowed but was still at a decent tempo. You had to give Greatorex credit in the fifth for still hanging in there and trying to ask questions, with O’Toole letting some hurtful eye-catching body shots go winning the round. O’Toole poured on the pressure in the final round smashing in sharp hurtful combinations in and picking her single shot well to end a fantastic debut performance.
Referee Chris Dean scored it 60 to 54 O’Toole I had it the same.
Dexter’s Thoughts
What a fantastic debut by Sian O’Toole, She showcased all her skills and had a massive following behind her. Sian has had loads of amateur experience and that was there for all to see as she showed great shot-picking, and movement and did not stop throwing punches until the final bell. You can only see titles in this girl's future and at just twenty-four shows I can see her going all the way to big titles. With this performance, I don't think it will be long before the big promotions companies come knocking to get this talented female boxer on their shows. Hopefully, I get to see her on a few more BcB shows before this happens but I don’t think it will be that long.
