Birmingham’s Light-Heavyweight Troy Jones took his professional record to ten without defeat headlining the BcB Promotions show at the H-Suite Edgbaston (10.05.24). The twenty-five-year-old was taking on Prince Oko Nartey (30) who had won eleven of his fourteen contests in a six round cruiserweight contest. Jones weighed in twelve stone nine with Nartey coming in twelve stone ten with Ryan Churchill reffing.
Cagey start to the first round with both fighters had a look at each other, Nartey landed some nice backhands from his southpaw stance but Jones won the round with a nice jab and some heavy backhands. Nartey continued to look to land his backhand and did a few times, Jones was unaffected by this and was in full control landing heavy one, twos with eye-catching backhands that were hurting Nartey. Jones came out in the third using his jab to land big backhands and combinations, Nartey was put down by Jones from a barrage of shots, and the ref started to count but as Nartey got to his feet the referee Ryan Churchill waved off the contest to Nartey’s protest one minute twenty-three second in the third round.

Dexter’s Thoughts
Statement performance by Jones tonight his opponent had a good record and came to win and even seemed to have a game plan. The on trouble with his plan was that no one had told Jones who went to work and showcased some great skill and movement against a tricky southpaw. As soon as Jones worked out his opponent he was in full control and stopped Nartey in the third round. Jones is now ten without defeat and I have a feeling that a title has to be in the future but I do think he has gone beyond an area title. Jones is a true talent and I would not be surprised if he gets a shot at an English title in the next few contests, it does surprise me that any of the big TV promotions haven’t picked him up yet. I’m sure in time they will and I think Troy Jones has a bright future in boxing,
