Cannock's Ollie Cooper took his professional boxing record to ten without defeat at the Hangar Event Venue Wolverhampton (8.3.25). The twenty-four-year-old southpaw was taking on Ukrainian boxer Serhil Ksendzov (31). The show was being promoted by BcB Promotions and was called ‘March Madness’. Cooper weighed in twelve stone four with Ksendzov coming in twelve stone one in a Light-Heavyweight contest scheduled for six three-minute rounds with Pete McCormick reffing.

Ksendzov looked to start fast letting a few shots go at the start of the first, but Cooper soon had his opponent on the back foot with some nice boxing and great movement. Cooper came out strong in the second and used his jab to dictate the pace going to the head and body with Ksendzov still looking to let some big shots go. Ksendzov came out looking to to have a go in the third but Cooper landed a cracking uppercut which seemed to shut Ksendzov down, Cooper continued to land big shots and at points Ksendzov looked like he was going to go but somehow, he saw the round out.

Cooper kept Ksendzov back with a nice southpaw jab in the fourth and some lovely backhand, Ksendzov looked tired as Cooper started him for the whole of the round. Ksendzov was still game but just looked spent in the fifth with Cooper shooting out the jab and banging in backhands to the head and body winning the round. Ksendzov had a go in the final round but soon ran out of steam, Cooper then continued with his game plan and banged in jabs and backhands knocking Ksendzov all over the ring as Cooper looked for the stoppage but Ksendzov managed to see the round out.

Referee Pete McCormick scored it 60 to 54 Cooper I had it the same.
Dexter’s Thoughts

Great performance by Cooper who controlled a very game opponent with a great jab and good movement. Copper is now ten without defeat and must be now looking at an area title now or even higher. Cooper has the potential to get to at least challenge for British honours and at 24 could even go higher. I hope to see Cooper challenging for titles very soon.
