BCB Promotions returned to The Venue, Dudley, on Friday evening for a superb night of professional boxing.
Popular Birmingham super lightweight, Tommy Collins, topped the bill in his first six round contest. ‘Tommy Gun’ survived a few hairy moments against always game Plymouth road warrior, Des Newton, to move to 5-0.
Collins remained composed against the heavier Newton, who played the role of pantomime villain to a tee. It was a great learning fight for the Brummie boxer who recorded a 58-55 victory on referee-for-the-evening Chris Dean’s scorecard.
Two debutants were in action on the undercard. Stourbridge lightweight Waqar Hussain edged past Romania’s Constantin Radoi 39-37 whilst Dudley super welterweight stopped Josh Hodgins. Flute floored the Birmingham road warrior in the second stanza with Hodgins, whilst back on his feet, in no position to continue.
Dudley duo Ethan Collins and Ruben Campbell were also successful on home turf. Welterweight Collins defeated Brierley Hill’s teak tough MJ Hall 39-37 whilst super lightweight Campbell defeated Bicester’s Sultan Ahmet by the same scoreline.
Completing the card were Worcester lightweight Ameen Khalid and Nuneaton super welterweight, Ashlee Eales. The pair recorded shut-out wins over Lithuania’s Simas Volosinas and Bulgaria’s Iliyan Markov respectively.
